We accompanied biologists of a kestrel-project, a protection program in Vienna, over a period of time. Young kestrels are ringed, blood samples are taken etc. This should help to understand the various influences of kesterls living in the city compared to those that live in the countryside. Some private citizens in Vienna have nesting boxes and allow the biologists to visit them. During one day of the year, the Vienna Fire Brigade shares their firetrucks, to help the biologists to reach some of the higher nests of the city. Between 3-400 breeding pairs are in Vienna.
